Where You’ll Be:

Toby’s Place serves women and women with children across the Midlands that may be experiencing homelessness and poverty. Since 2017, this ministry has provided a safe and nurturing environment where women can heal from their past, rediscover their strength and purpose, and take the next best steps toward stability and a brighter future for themselves and their families.

What You’ll Do:

As a Family Meal Server, you may be responsible for tasks such as setting up the dining room, serving food on the line, refilling beverages, clearing trays, wiping down tables, and assisting with light clean-up after the meal. Volunteers are expected to follow food safety and hygiene guidelines, work as part of a team, and treat every guest with dignity and kindness. A staff member will guide you throughout your shift to ensure you feel comfortable and confident in your role.

Our Family Meal Servers play a vital role in ensuring that we are able to feed each Toby’s Place guest in a timely manner and offer dignity, compassion, and connection to everyone that walks through our dining hall doors. As a Family Meal Server, you help create a safe and welcoming space where guests feel seen, respected, and valued. Your willingness to serve not only meets an immediate need but also reinforces a sense of community and hope—reminding every guest that they are not alone.

Must be 15 years or older

Must be accompanied by an adult if under the age of 18

Must pass a background check if over the age of 18 – those under 18, please email volunteer@olivergospel.org so that we can assist you with the background check requirement

Must be able to be on your feet for up to 2 hours

Must not share the address for Toby’s Place. This is essential for the protection of the women and children who stay with us.

As a Volunteer Hair Stylist you would be responsible for washing, drying, cutting, and styling hair for guests of our programs as part of our ongoing work to restore dignity and confidence for each individuals that walks through our doors. If you are skilled in braiding, we would also love to offer this service for our guests. Additionally, Toby's Place has an on-site salon for your use while serving with us.
