Program Instructor - Men's Center

Calendar Until Aug 15, 2034
Time 9:30-11:00am

Description

Where You’ll Be:

Built in 1888, the Men’s Center at Oliver Gospel originally functioned as the heart of the organization, housing all program guests, administrative offices, and kitchen services under one roof. Today, it remains an integral part of the work that we do. With 90 beds across the three floors, the Men’s Center provides a safe space for the men of the Midlands community experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction to take steps toward a hope-filled future and experience life transformation.

What You’ll Do:

As a Program Instructor, you will teach practical life skills classes for men in our Recovery and Rebuild Programs. Instructors may lead sessions on a variety of topics related to housing, career readiness, and financial stability.

Teaching topics may include housing search processes, financial requirements for housing, affordable housing options, and living well within a community. Career-focused sessions may cover employer expectations, job applications, interviewing skills, onboarding, and overcoming common barriers to employment. Financial instruction may include budgeting, understanding and repairing credit, banking basics, saving, and investing.

Volunteers are encouraged to teach from their experience, engage participants in meaningful discussion, and present material in a clear, respectful, and encouraging way

Why It Matters:

Practical knowledge and life skills are critical building blocks for lasting stability. As a Program Instructor, you help equip men with tools they can immediately apply as they pursue housing, employment, and financial independence. Your investment of time and expertise empowers men to build confidence, make informed decisions, and take ownership of their future.

Eligibility:

Must be 18 years or older

Must have documented experience of expertise in subject matter being taught (degree, resume, certificate, etc)
